Looks get attention, but personality decides whether you come back tomorrow. When you create your own companion on Girlies, you choose her traits, backstory and voice. This guide shows how an AI girlfriend personality comes together, which choices matter most and how to avoid a character who feels flat after a week.
Four parts of a companion
In the builder, a companion is made of four parts, and each one shapes the conversation differently.
- Looks, such as hair, eyes, style and body type, chosen from adult presets.
- Personality traits, the core of how she talks and reacts.
- Backstory, her job, city, interests and a bit of history.
- Voice, which she uses in voice notes and calls.
Every companion also has an age, and it must be 21 or older. The builder checks this field and does not save a companion without it. The create your own AI girlfriend page walks through the builder screen by screen.
Pick two or three strong traits
The most common mistake is choosing every trait that sounds nice. A companion who is sweet, sarcastic, shy, bold and mysterious all at once has no clear voice, so the AI averages them into something bland. Two or three strong traits work far better.
- Warm and teasing gives playful affection, like Valentina.
- Calm and thoughtful gives a good listener, like Noor.
- Witty and loyal gives banter with a soft side, like Jade.
- Bold and spontaneous gives energy and surprise, like Dahlia.
Add one contrast
One contrast makes a character feel real. A confident lawyer who is quietly nervous about her tennis match, or a shy yoga teacher who gets very direct about hiking routes. Contrast gives her moments that surprise you without breaking her character.
A backstory gives her things to talk about
Backstory is fuel for conversation. A job, a city and two or three interests give her stories, opinions and daily details to share. Keep it concrete.
- A job with texture, such as a florist who opens the shop at 6 a.m.
- A city she can describe, with a favorite street or cafe.
- Hobbies that lead to opinions, like vinyl records, rock climbing or cooking.
- One small detail from her past, such as a road trip that went wrong.
Avoid backstories that only list adjectives. "She is amazing and fun" gives the AI nothing to work with, while "she restores old motorcycles on weekends" gives her a whole topic.
Choose a voice that matches the traits
Her voice is heard in voice notes and calls, so it should fit how she writes. A calm, low voice suits a thoughtful character. A bright, quick voice suits a bubbly one. When the voice and traits match, calls feel like the same person you text with. Hear the options on the AI girlfriend voice page before you decide.
Personality stays, mood changes
Moods change the tone of a conversation, not who she is. In Sweet mood a sarcastic companion is still sarcastic, just gentler. In Flirty mood a shy companion flirts shyly, which is often more charming than bold lines. In Story mood her traits decide how she acts inside the scene. Designing a clear personality first makes all three moods better.
Let her get to know you
Personality is half of the experience. The other half is what she learns about you. As you talk, she adds facts to her "What she remembers" journal, and her replies start to mix her character with your life. A teasing companion teases you about the gym you keep skipping. A caring one asks whether you slept. The guide on how AI girlfriend memory works shows how to review and edit that journal.
Test and adjust after a few chats
No design is final. After two or three conversations, check how she feels.
- Too agreeable, so add a trait with an edge like witty or direct.
- Too intense, so swap a strong trait for calm or gentle.
- Repeating the same topics, so add an interest to her backstory.
- Voice feels off, so pick a different voice and keep everything else.
How many companions you can build
Plus lets you build 1 companion, Premium 3 and Ultimate 10, so you can keep different personalities for different evenings. See the full plans on the pricing page.
Three starting combinations to try
If a blank builder feels like too much, start from a combination and adjust it later. A caring, grounded companion who works as a veterinarian in Portland and loves board games makes a comforting evening partner. A playful, curious photographer in Santa Fe who chases sunsets is great for light flirting and travel talk. A direct, witty chef in Philadelphia who argues about food is perfect if you enjoy banter.
Rules every companion follows
Every companion you build is a fictional adult woman aged 21 or older. You cannot base her on a real person, and her looks come from adult presets. Photos she sends stay within glamour, evening wear and lingerie styles for verified adults, with no nudity. She is an AI character and says so if asked.
